Kargil Vijay Diwas :-
Kargil Vijay Diwas is an important day in India that is observed on July 26th every year. It commemorates the successful conclusion of “Operation Vijay,” which was a military campaign launched by the Indian armed forces to recapture the strategic locations in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistani infiltrators during the summer of 1999.
The conflict began when Pakistani soldiers, disguised as militants, infiltrated the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC) that divides the two countries in the region of Kargil.
The surprise attack caught the Indian forces off guard, and a full-scale military operation was launched to evict the intruders and reclaim the occupied territories.
The operation lasted for about two months, and it involved intense fighting and challenging terrain conditions at high altitudes. Indian soldiers demonstrated immense valor and courage during the battles, and their determination led to the eventual victory on July 26, 1999.
The day marks the successful recapture of the last remaining post in the Kargil sector, and the Indian tricolor was hoisted over all the recaptured areas, signifying the victory.
